QA Supervisor Trainee
Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible to oversee the day-to-day operation of the FSQA officers, Quality technicians and Sanitation operators. The Quality Supervisor is responsible in overseeing facility food safety, food quality & HACCP/SQF programs and assisting in maintaining SQF Level 3 certification. This role will also be in charge of coordinating/leading subsequent investigations & resolutions for all safety, food safety, food quality, microbiological and/or work-related issues. Collect, analyze, compile and distribute various reports. The Quality Supervisor forms facility internal audits, interior and exterior inspections & facilitates corrective actions on all non-conformances.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintaining Quality Testing Plan and documentation for SQF Level 3
- Implements, maintains and revises facility quality policies and procedures, and
- Represent QA at production and other meetings and report back to staff
- Report on quality of product produced to Plant Manager, Quality Assurance Manager and Supervisors
- Assisting Plant Manager, Quality Assurance Manager with customer complaint issues
- Collect, analyze, compile, distribute and present various reports or information as requested or assigned
- Participate in root cause problem solving activities and preventive measures activities
- Set up annual calibration on lab equipment
- Oversee QA Floor Tech scheduling to ensure adequate coverage for operational support
- Oversee or train personnel on product quality testing equipment and randomly test certified coworkers
- Follow all OSHA safety regulations and procedures
- Interact with industry on new technologies and processes, evaluate for possible addition to current procedures. This may be done through seminars, meetings, email or phone communication
- Assist in coworker training
- Establish and monitor co-worker performance and developmental goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments as required
- Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity and sustained certification of the SQF system
- Assists in 3rd party and customer audits, and investigates customer complaints associated with Food Safety/Food Quality/Food Regulatory concerns.
- Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and/or food quality problems from occurring
- Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan and any other programs that support the SQF system or other 3rd party audits.
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Backup:
- A trained designee will be appointed by management to cover for absences or vacancies; refer to Rembrandt Foods site-specific facility back-up matrix on file.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Food Technology or Science or related field
- Clear understanding and working knowledge of food safety systems, quality systems, and regulatory compliance
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Independent Self Starter/Team Player
- Ability to: motivate, lead, and logically problem solve
- Detail oriented, a strong work ethic, with strong computer and mathematical skills
- Able to plan, organize and coordinate varied projects
- Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet
Preferred:
- Fine Motor Skills
- Computer knowledge
- Previous supervisory experience with 4+ years microbiological experience in the food industry
- HACCP certification and/or knowledge
- GFSI knowledge/certification in SQF, BRC, or ISO
- FSMA, USDA EPIA, FDA regulatory knowledge
- Statistical Process Control knowledge
- Bilingual

Lab protective equipment/Safety glasses/Respirator mask in designated areas/hearing protection for production areas
